NDIS transport and travel support
Getting to appointments, work, study and everything else, which is the support that quietly makes the other supports possible.
Transport is the support that decides whether the others happen. A physiotherapy appointment you cannot get to is not an appointment.
Western Sydney is spread out, and public transport between suburbs here is often slower than the map suggests.
What we do
Drive you to and from appointments, work, study, day programs and activities. Accompany you on public transport where that is the goal. Travel training on the specific routes you need, so a trip becomes yours over time. Support with mobility aids and getting in and out safely.
How the funding works
NDIS transport funding is one of the more confusing parts of a plan. There is transport funding paid to you as a periodic amount, and there is provider travel charged by a provider for the time and distance of getting to and between participants. They are not the same thing and they come out of different places.
We explain what we charge before we start, and we set out how the funding works so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
Travel training
Where independent travel is the goal, we work the route in stages: with you the whole way, then meeting you at the other end, then a phone call, then nothing. It takes as long as it takes, and it is one of the more genuinely life-changing things in a plan.
Questions
How much NDIS transport funding will I get?
It depends on your circumstances, and the NDIA applies levels based on how much you work, study or participate in the community. It is worth checking your plan rather than assuming, because the amounts differ a lot.
Do you charge for the worker's travel time?
Yes, where the NDIS Pricing Arrangements allow it, and we tell you the basis before we start. You should never receive a travel charge you were not expecting.
Can you take a wheelchair?
It depends on the chair and the vehicle. Tell us what you use and we will confirm what we can accommodate before anything is booked.
Can transport be part of a SIL roster?
Yes. Getting to appointments and activities is part of the roster of care for people living in the Glendenning home.
What if I just need occasional lifts?
That is fine. Regular weekly transport and the occasional appointment are both normal.
